The latest installment in the Salt Lick, Texas series featuring the Domestic Equalizers also know as Debbie-Sue Overstreet and Edwina Perkins-Martin is without a doubt one of the funniest yet by the author/sister duo Dixie Cash.
Debbie-Sue and Edwina are on cloud nine. They’ve been invited by the National Association of Private Investigators to speak at their National convention in New York City! The gals are eager to go, promising their husbands that they will stay out of trouble and away from dead bodies. Not long after arriving they take a fellow Texan under their wing, Celina Phillips, a librarian from the small town of Dime Box. Celina’s dreams of becoming a Private Investigator are deep-rooted and she’s delighted to meet the two Domestic Equalizers, her personal hero’s. If they can do it, so can she!
Not long after meeting Debbie-Sue and Edwina, Celina meets NYC Detective Matt McDermott and decides to take a chance on the handsome policeman. After a murder next door to the Texas Trio is discovered hilarity already present, continues to ensue. But, never fear, although Debbie-Sue and Edwina become embroiled in the case, they still have time to shop on 5th Avenue! And let there be no doubt, there is the prerequisite (for my books) HEA.
I have to say this book is fun, and well, funny. They mystery is light, but interesting and the romance between Celina and Matt is HOT. I started reading this book while working out on a treadmill and almost fell off laughing so hard at the airport scene! If you find this book entertaining, please check out the other titles by this delightful author. (And yes, they can be read seperatley.)
